the release date doesnt matter imo. i just need 4G, new design, new features and better specs and im good to go...

android is dropping a 4g phone every month... apple needs to stop beating around the bush

    It's so true.

Apple can be very slow to adapt to modern technologies.

Apple still doesn't offer 3G connectivity in their MBP's . That's pretty pathetic. For all their claims of superiority, its actually just smoke and mirrors. PC laptops have had that for years while Apple remains in the dark ages.

    5 years in the making...

6970!? Yes!They are the Mobility versions. That would be the HD 6570 to the HD 6850 on the desktop side. Also, they admit mobility graphics.

Really? How come I never saw anything like the iPhone GUI before 2007.

Or are you suggesting Apple invented the smart phone :D

There's only so much one can do with smart phone styling.

Just curious... is that special tool the only way to get the call stats from your iPhone? Sounded like interesting data.

Agreed, put it on the second page. This "might/might not" constant chatter is not helpful.

nope .. refresh happening in the next 3-4 weeks ... they want you to purchase the machine first then pay to upgrade to lion

    I find that very likely.

well if its $129 then people would just pay $99 for the mac developer program and get it $30 cheaper

    $79 or less

You don't get final versions of the software they release in the dev program.

The Gold master will not get software updates post release date.

Give us a 4.3" screen so the phone would have to be somewhat bigger - big enough to support two chips for 3G and 4G.

I think that the current iPhone 4 is too thin and too small (I have big hands). I think a Thunderbolt sized iPhone would be just awesome! The Thunderbolt is the perfect size in my opinion.

-Intel Chips are not innovation. Its change of suppliers.
    -Magsafe is an actual innovation.
-24" monitors have been around for like 10 yrs.... slappig into an iMac isnt innovation its either ballsy managing or perfect timing
-A webcam.... and a software to list all ur media.... nice not new. ITS A WEBCAM PEOPLE. THATS ALL. IT DOESNT SAVE CHILDREN.
-I thought Sony had a laptop that did this already? Can't confirm.

I can confirm that my Sony Vaio does in fact save children.

Not really sure why Apple can't bring themselves to put an i7 by default in a $2,000 machine. That's kind of ridiculous.

Apple has received a great deal of favorable publicity in the last year as it introduced the iPhone and increased market share in computer sales. Whenever a company gets that kind of publicity, a number of people will buy its stock simply because it was mentioned in the newspapers, without really analyzing whether the stock was actually worth that or not. This halo effect can last as long as six months to a year, but it disappears on the appearance of any bad news, in this case a market downturn.

Apple was grossly overvalued because of all the publicity, so it was the first stock to be dumped when the market turned down. Now it is probably grossly undervalued. Personally, I stay away from volatility. There are too many people who are trading stocks, as opposed to investing in companies. There is a big difference. One is looking for a quick profit on a short-term change in price; the other is looking for long-term accumulation of value.

The short-term traders often do quite well and they brag about their successes, but overall their investments do not do as well as if they had put their money in slot machines in Vegas. That is why I stay away from volatility.

It does vary quite a lot by where you live. Living in Sweden (and coming from the UK) just about everyone I know uses MSN.

Same here, it seems that AIM is only popular within the US. Elsewhere Messenger totally dominates.

I don't know a single person who uses AIM. Not one.

So, iX.Mac.MarketingName or 9.Mac.MarketingName? Is OS X Lion ninth in someway?

I think it may be useful for the lock screen. For home screen I don't think it's much more effective than just launching separate apps to look at mail or calendar.
Anyway, I don't think that it's bad to have widgets or customization, I just think that it's not that important. It will make iOS better, but only a tiny bit better, it won't be any huge step forward.

Widgets are meant to get you in and out faster. Meaning if you want to just unlock you phone to click next on your media player you can unlock and not have to open an app but just click next.

It gives too much irrelevant information and it's too easy to make it messy.
For example, if I run Word on PC and click open file, then it will show me the whole filesystem with thousands of browseable folders, but only few of them actually contain any Word documents. Ideally, what I should be able to see instead is list of all Word documents on my computer and all connected devices in a very organized way that makes it easy to find any document in less than a second. I shouldn't care that one part of a report is in my local folder, another part is on flash drive and some other part is written by another dude and is on a network server, but file system wants me to care of these irrelevant things. I can think of hundreds other examples where file system gets in the way of organization and productivity. Basically, it's not the best way to manage documents and media and it should be superseded by something entirely different. And IMHO for Apple moving forward is so principal that they are willing to reject archaic ways of doing some things even if it's currently the ONLY way of doing them. Apple is like - do it the best way or don't do it at all.
Your confusing best way with simplist way. The way that windows does it allows you to hide, move, and keep your documents organized. As you being the creator of the document should know where said document is.

As far as I remember, iPhone 4 still is smaller, has better battery life and screen resolution than comparable Android phones. What specs do you mean?

The Motorola Atrix which does have best battery life of all smartphones. Screen resolution will only be a matter of time. Any other specs that apple dominates at you can think of. I'll wait....

The ITC staff just ruled against them, they lost the famous case against MS, they ended up paying Apple Corps, etc.

    What have they actually WON?

Record-breaking quarters and the position as the trend-setter in consumer tech.

These legal skirmishes haven't and won't result in any major untoward changes to Apple products. We all know this already.
